Day 2 Vancouver Amazingness

8 / 15 / 135 / 2 / 19

Following an amazing race, there was still more fun to be had in Vancouver for SeaWheeze! But first we brunch!

Kyla and I decided that we both liked the looks of the menu at Catch 122 and walked ourselves over to Gastown. Kyla was very very patient with my hobbling. I resembled a penguin dressed in SeaWheeze gear.

I loved that the sign outside said “We know, you know good coffee” because their cups of black brewed coffee were to die for. We also celebrated with mimosas! It was my first half marathon after all!

I chose the Liege Waffles – The Belgian Way. Those three pots of delight were fresh strawberries, chantilly cream & melted Belgian chocolate. I died. They were small enough to not overwhelm me but enough food to make me delightfully full. Oh and I ordered a side of bacon. Love me some bacon.

Kyla ordered The Catch 122: Poached eggs on croissant, house-cured wild salmon gravlax, gorgonzola, arugula, Yukon nugget potato hash. It looked delish as well and I knew it was good as we didn’t speak for 10 mins while we ate. I also didn’t get a picture of her meal before I realized it was all gone!

Kyla dropped me off back at the hotel room and ordered me to sleep. I may have Instagramed, texted and generally just rolled around the hotel bed in pain until I decided to venture out for food. I just walked (hobbled) back up the street to Urban Fare where we went for breakfast on Day 1 and ordered a chicken thigh & quinoa salad from the deli and grabbed a Kombucha for my belly.

Christina came back from her day of adventures and we decided to force ourselves to go to the Sunset Festival. We knew we’d regret it if we just stayed in bed all day!

We found out that they were offering photo booths so we could take pictures for the inside of our lockets. Me and my organizational self yelled out in the booth, smiles, goofy face and then two individuals 🙂 I love our goofy face picture so much it may win over my individual thumbs up pic for a spot in the locket.

Ok back to the festival fun. I am obsessed with Passenger. So obsessed that I started happy crying like a little kid when he started to play at the festival that night. He played Let Her Go and it was over for me. That has been my healing song over the past few months. I posted a video of him singing on Instagram and then just stood there giggling like a schoolgirl.

We unfortunately acted like little old ladies and left right after Passenger so we missed seeing/hearing Xavier Rudd. The weekend was just perfect. I’m proud to say we came, we yogaed (in front of SeaWheeze logos – see below), we ran, we partied. I left one happy woman.

Update to Race Goals

2 / 16 / 133 / 12 / 13

So after I carefully planned out the beginning of my year and my race goals I have officially been spontaneous in my life and added another race to the list.

I’ve been bitten by the running bug. I always announce that I’m not a long distance runner and that I’m good with anything less than 10k. Except…..

I have officially signed up to run the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver on August 10th, 2013!

This is how it all went down and if you’d like to influence me in the future apparently Instagram is the way to do it!

I posted this on my Instagram account on Weds, Feb 6th as I attempted a personal best. I wanted to run the 5k in 27 mins. I ran it in 26:10 with no stoplights and 27:06 with stoplights!

And then this conversation started

So I watched the video… watch below….

And then this happened… well I tried to rope my cousins & aunt into doing it from Kelowna…

But then my girl Michelle piped up!

And I was registered by the next day!

Here’s to half marathon training beginning in May and a new adventure in August!

Perusing the local Facebook Mom's Groups I was sho Perusing the local Facebook Mom's Groups I was shocked to hear how many moms are on anti-depressants.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I do not know their situations. I do not know the depth of their mental health issues. And I won't pretend to. But I do know my own. I do know I gave birth during a pandemic. I do know I experienced isolation and stress. I do know that I was diagnosed with PTSD from birth trauma. I do know that I had postpartum depression and anxiety. I do know that I pictured walking out of our front door and never coming home. I do know that I pictured what my husband and kid's lives would be like without me in it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I know the pain and I KNOW it took an army of holistic solutions to pull me out of the depths of that depression. It wasn't one thing. It was everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was the group talk therapy I went to weekly. It was focusing on getting a full 8 hours of sleep. It was morning meditation instead of IG scrolling. It was somatic breathwork. It was leaning on my husband and family for support. It was hiring a nanny. It was ensuring I spend time daily in self-care. It was asking for help.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here if you want to talk or figuring how to incorporate different things into your life to support you.
During our Values Reset retreat we did dream about During our Values Reset retreat we did dream about which vehicles we want to drive. I've never been one to really get obsessed with a make and model. I leave that to my husband.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, I do value having vehicles with a high resell value so it makes it easier to buy new vehicles every few years.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also added travel to this values statement because I want a life of variety and I want to gift that to our kids so I thought it would be fun to focus on different methods of transportation as we plan trips over the coming years with them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thought I’d share this now as we started shopping for a new large SUV that can fit both kids, both dogs and bags for road trips to the cottage and North Bay.
Here is how we value our family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My favourite part of this statement is our "we grow relationships individually within the family" and this is why once a month we book a mommy/daughter | daddy/son date and then a mommy/son date | daddy/daughter date!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ps. This is a monthly Asana task for me at the beginning of the month to book into our calendars so we make it happen.

I wake up before the sun to meditate, journal and I wake up before the sun to meditate, journal and workout.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We wake the babes and spend slow morning eating breakfast and cuddling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My husband and I walk the dogs when our nanny arrives so we can get morning sunlight.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I work a full time job in Web3 that’s lights me up. I get to build my dōTERRA business in a way that lights me up. Ps. It’s BOGO week this week and I get to partake in passion projects like publishing a book around thriving with an autoimmune disease in my spare time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I get to hug my babies multiple times a day, walk or run out of my home office when the twins need me and kiss them before they go for walks or naptime.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Right now my time values and how I spent my day are pretty aligned. There are a few things I want to upgrade.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to get to a point where I’m working out midday. And I’d like to get down to a 3-4 day work week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do you want to spend your time?
