6 Race Recovery Tips

8 / 13 / 156 / 7 / 22

Whether you’re an obstacle course racer, a gym rat/mouse or you’ve just tried a weird new pilates class and sitting down on the toilet is a new painful experience for you here are my top 6 tips for recovery from physical pushing your limits!

1. Epsom Salt Bath – I take one every night regardless of the activity! That’s right every night! It’s just become part of my routine now. I add 2-3 drops of essential lavender oil to help my body wind down and extra Epsom salts after a particularly hard race or workout.

2. Drink Tart Cherry Juice & Glutamine – It’s important to reduce inflammation to help my body recover from sore muscles. I usually mix a shot of tart cherry juice with water and then a scoop of Magnum G (glutamine) into the drink and chug before bed.

Here are some sources of information on why Tart Cherry Juice is anti-inflammatory.

3. Get a Full 8 Hours Sleep – I have 6 tips that I Periscoped last night. Catch the replay here!

4. Flush Lactic Acid Out Of Your Muscles – I try to flush the lactic acid build-up in my muscles at least the day after or the day after day 2 pain. The 2nd day after a hard workout or race is always the worst for me. This week I’m going to attempt some stationary bike workouts to get my cardio in while being easy on my joints.

5. Massage, Chiro, Physio – I try and book a deep tissue massage or a chiropractic or physiotherapy appointment after a hard workout or race to ensure I’m taking care of myself.

My go-to RMT in Toronto is Tracey Elliott at BodyTrace.

My go-to Chiropractor in Toronto is Dr. Joe Vomvas at Modus Health & Performance.

6. Eat Healthy Meals – I know that you may really want that treat meal after a race but treat meals usually contain highly inflammatory foods and can actually hinder reducing inflammation in the body. Stick to your amazing clean eating meal plans and I promise recovery will go easier!

Happy Recovering!

We’re on Day 21 of 100 Days of Audacity And we’re We’re on Day 21 of 100 Days of Audacity

And we’re making progress!

I’m in the process of interviewing for a handful of roles after diligently applying and working my network!

Out of 2 business ideas, my husband and I picked one that were flushing out.

We reviewed our monthly budget and made cuts in case we have to buckle down after my severance runs out.

I completed my first UGC campaign and I’ve applied to a ton more.

And I’m going to enjoy funemployment this week with my twins!

If you need to button up your budget I’ve created a template you can grab from the link in my bio!

I loved the heck out of July! What’s something you I loved the heck out of July! What’s something you did this month that created a core memory?!?

We’re obsessed with seasonal bucket lists over here. We created a fun list this summer and have knocked off most of the items already. Just a few more for August!

Do you have a summer bucket list??

I’ve started doing co-working sessions with my wedding planner @laurs.sinclair & wedding photographer @iam.stephaniemason. They are luckily best friends and 8 years later adopting me into their friend circle which is giving me life in the friendship department!

In the summer, for our monthly date night we send the twins to my parents for a sleepover and go golfing together! We’ve been trying out courses close to home so we can race home to our puppy and eat a lazy dinner together!

What’s your favourite course in the west end of Ottawa?

The epic yes day continues! We started this tradition on our twins birthday last year and did it again.

This year we had breakfast pizza, went rock climbing, ate cotton candy, Mac and Cheese, Banaba Pudding, went mini putting and had Boston Pizza for dinner!

Everyone was exhausted and had hurting tummies!

Happy 6th Birthday Pineault Twins!! It’s our seco Happy 6th Birthday Pineault Twins!!

It’s our second annual tradition of doing a yes day for their birthday. They get to choose the food and one activity each that we do as a family! Here’s the recap!

Breakfast Pizza - @mike_rtq’s creation
Rock Climbing @altitudegym
Mac & Cheese @churchillswestboro
Cotton Candy
Banana Pudding @happyrollsdessertbar
Mini Putt @puttingedge
Pizza @bphuntclub

Passed out from the sugar crash!

Overheard the next morning: Next year I’m only choosing one treat so my tummy doesn’t hurt.

We eat very healthy but we want them to know what “fun” things taste like but now they understand why we don’t normally eat alllllll the treats!

Something I wish I had learned in my teens was tha Something I wish I had learned in my teens was that letters did not define my worth.

My parents taught me to work hard, but along the way, I sought their acceptance in my grades, not just because I am.

That took me years to unpack.
