Well 30 days have come and gone. I’m really glad I embarked on this personal challenge however I have felt myself saying “It was just too much yoga!” I like the balance of once or twice a week for stress management and stretching but I definitely missed lifting and wasn’t doing two a day workouts during my challenge.
I managed to go to class for 27 out of 30 days. I’m still really proud of sticking it out and doing this for me. My body feels incredibly more relaxed, flexible and stronger.
I unfortunately had to skip one day when I was dealing with the rescue puppy I had tried to adopt and I had to skip the last two days due to incredible pain from Alpha Genesis last weekend and having to do a Magnum Demo on my last day where I was just too tired to try and attempt the morning class.
My favourite funny story of the 30 months happened on day 2 or 3 of my challenge. I was standing outside the south studio with other classmates when a guy showed up wearing jeans and swearing profusely. He said “Am I ok to do yoga in jeans”. With skeptical looks noone really answered him. I whispered to the guy beside me. “Does he know it’s hot yoga?” and “Does he know he chose the 90 mins class?”. The guy beside me whispered back “Is it a snobby yogi thing to take bets on how long he lasts before passing out?” I took him up on the bet and guessed 10 mins and was a winner when the guy proceeded to pass out in the most uncomfortable position on the floor 10 mins into the class! Needless to say it was a great lesson in focusing on myself vs. the snoring yogi!
One day I missed a class by 15 mins so they let me use an empty studio (sooo grateful). I loved being able to practice on my own as an extra challenge. Which means of course I snapped a yoga selfie 🙂
I really really loved the Moksha Flow classes at Moksha Downtown but by far my favourite was trying Yang Yin for the first time. The challenge of holding poses for longer periods of time was perfect for my brain and really great in terms of getting the stretches my body needed.
I can’t wait to get into a regular routine when I return from my fitness retreat in Mexico. In the meantime, I’m excited that the 30 day challenge has given me the skills to help guide yoga session with my ladies while we’re on the beach next week. All in all if you haven’t tried a 30 day challenge I definitely suggest it. It’s worth the personal challenge!
