Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.
Definition of an Alpha Female
An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.
She is the brightest star in her constellation. When an Alpha Female stays true to their authentic selves and their missions they shine. An Alpha Female puts herself first so that she can fill up her cup and then have more energy for her friends, family, and coworkers. She strives for synergy with the world around her. She knows that work/life harmony is found by staying true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with all the people in her life.

What do you think of the definition and how are you an Alpha Female?
I have spent quite a bit of time with this definition and feeling this in my body and I’ve never really thought of myself as an alpha female and yet I totally align with it at the same time. So an alpha female is powerful.
Powerful can show up in the ability to set boundaries and say no as well as having a wild excitement and yes for something. The one thing I would add to that first statement is soulful. Because for me being connected to that wisdom within is what drives me forward. It’s what gives me my power.
What are you most passionate about?
One of my teachers her name is Sheila Kelly, she teaches feminine movement practice called S factor. Therefore mine is a constant cultivation of the feminine. So for me, it’s a place for the body and not from the head and mind and the thinking and the teaching and the constant moving forward and the penetrating energy of the masculine. So we’re listening to the intuitive wisdom from within as well as listening to the thinking mind. It’s kind of a dance between the feminine and the masculine that I’m with in every day of my life. So cultivating the feminine comes in a place where we embody whatever it is in terms of goal setting, we embody what it is that we desire.
What does work/life harmony look like for you?
Every day starts with feminine movement, getting into my body because I have a family, I have two young children. One is three one is five. We own two studios, you can wake up and kind of get into my do list right away of all the things that you have to do. So for me to start my day getting embodied, listening to incredible music, moving in a slow sensual way, it gets me into that soul-body connection. It’s virtually important and at the same time it allows me to be strong, I’m empowered in my body it’s a work out for me as well but in a way that is soulful.
Share with us a time when work/life balance was out of whack? What was your aha moment that taught you it was ok to take care of yourself first?
It’s setting boundaries for me that have really allowed me to live a more feminine life. Just because someone wants me or needs me right now doesn’t mean I need to respond right now. Because then I’m not honoring myself and my desires.
How do you nourish yourself?
I keep myself well-nourished and what I put into my body. My beautiful body is a sacred place of creative energy. This is how I fuel every passion project I have, how I fuel the love in my life with my family so really boosting my immune system. I have a vegan diet that works really well for my body and eating as many greens as I possibly can. And also, in coming back to those boundaries and balance is not being over-committed because when I stretch my energy too thin because I have so much energy, that’s when things start to go on a downward spiral.
I’m a meal prep machine. I pre-pack my blenders at night time, we have two smoothies a day, green smoothies then a protein based smoothie and then I pre-pack them at night time without the liquids. So when you wake up in the morning you just have to blend and go. That’s really helpful and when it comes to our lunch and our snacks I pre-pack everything at night time. I don’t want to wake up feeling like I have 100 things I have to do before 9 am.
What is your weekly fitness routine like?
I teach pole dancing every day. I love to move so much. I do yoga and flow of goddess pretty much every morning. It might be in yoga where you need to be still you need to breathe in and out you need to stretch.
What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?
My number one release is having a bath. I do daily rose baths and essential oils, my favorite being Jasmine, I always literally feel the stress washing away. Also, I go to bed early.
What are some pain points of being an Alpha Female that you have to problem solve for?
I’m going to be authentic I can be here I’m an alpha female in a way I definitely love to do. I often have a full plate and right now I am deeply entrenched in my own soul body experience that it’s actually kind of calling to me to take a pause. So that’s the challenge that I’m facing at this moment is I got all these delicious exciting this that are happening this year with all these amazing women and at the same time I’m being called from within to pause. So I’m choosing to create this life for myself right now that I’m simply creating that inner quietness feeling in my body that makes me feel relaxed and calm so I’m not feeling over committed
The thing about pole dancing is that it has such negative connotations and as females, we are holding so much shame around our sexuality that when we verbally speak to this in our circles that shame bubbles up again. So when we embrace our sexuality as a living breathing part of every day, those stigmas slowly fade away. When the practice came to me I was a yoga studio owner, and what does that say about me because I’m a yogi now and I’m a pole dancing.
I felt like my sexuality and my spirituality needed to be separate and it was really far out of my comfort zone at first but I knew I needed to embrace it. I want to be whole just like our mentality, our spirituality, our emotions and our sexuality is a part of us. Those women are keeping it private be gentle with yourself and over time if you are with the right kind of teacher that’s going to nurture you along the way, it will come.
What is your definition of happiness?
It’s love, it’s living a life that is deeply saturated in love. All flavors of love. Because when I think about my passion, project, my family, the way I connect to the earth.
