2012 In Review

 

After a bit of a somber post yesterday reflecting on the lessons learned in 2012, it’s time to celebrate the goals I set and achieved.

Fitness Writing: I had the pleasure of being published in Max Sport & Fitness this year as a writer and model for my own article. This was special to me as I expanded my horizons as a writer. I was published as a model several times in Best Health this year & in World Physique Magazine. I’ve posted them in my Portfolio but the article below was a new milestone for me as a writer.

Max Sports & Fitness

Obstacle Racing: I trained and completed the Warrior Dash with my friends Jess & Krysten in July. We even finished under an hour which we were so proud of! In October I tackled the famous O Course in Toronto and placed within the top 20 females that day. It was definitely harder than Warrior Dash and did a number on my body but made me feel so awesome knowing I had tackled and completed it!

Magnum Sponsorship: I want to truly thank my sponsors Magnum Nutraceuticals for everything they did for me this year. I was asked to attend both the Arnold & the Olympia with the team which was a huge blessing and for a short stint from May – November I used my OCD skills as their athlete liaison organizing demos & product orders for all our athletes. We disbanded the position at the end of the year as it was no longer needed but it was a great year with them. I still remain a sponsored athlete with the company so you’ll have to look out for my 2013 blogs and videos on hardmagnum.com!

Became an Author: I had set a goal to write an eBook in 2012. Over the month of November I was spurred into action and completed the 16 page book about how to “Live Like An Alpha Female”. You can purchase your copy on my website here for only 99 cents!

Despite the hard lessons learned this year. 2012 was good to me. So as much as I’m looking forward to 2013. I don’t let bad moments get me down and choose to focus on the amazing things I’ve been able to accomplish.

2012 Goals Lehgo!

So as a tradition (only started last year, but I plan on keeping it around for a while) I want to write my goals out here so I can hold myself accountable to them and have an online reminder of my dreams for 2012

1. Career: Continue with my 2011 goal of being less blunt and reading the Robert Greene books I mentioned in my previous post.

2. Fitness Modeling: I was blessed to have signed with Magnum Neutraceuticals in 2011. One of my goals this year is to maintain a top athlete status with them and grow our partnership. I am also shooting for more magazine publication goals.

3. Health & Fitness Goal: Continue with my 2011 goal of developing more defined abs!

4. Fitness Competitions: Place 1st of 2nd at the WBFF Quebec 2012 April Show!

5. Fitness Mentor Goal: I’ve written 3 Alpha Female Workouts. I just need to take pictures for them and put them in pdf format so they can start to be sold on my website. In 2012, I vow to find ways to package my knowledge in easy ways that other Alpha Females can use to better their health & fitness.

6. Writing Goal: Continue to help The Broken Heel Diaries succeed and soar.

7. Travel Goal: Plan, Save, Book our Honeymoon to Turks or Fiji. We can’t decide!

8. Spiritual Goal: Re-Read Letters from A Skeptic and re-look at my 2011 goal of incorporating prayer and daily devotional time.

9. Financial Goal: Evaluate my RSP & TFSA Investment and ensure I’m putting enough away.

10. Wedding, Love Goal: Plan, execute and enjoy my wedding in August of next year with minimal stress while strengthening my relationship with the love of my life.

What’s one of your toxic habits? I’ll go fir What’s one of your toxic habits? 

I’ll go first:
- staying up late working on passion projects 

Why is that toxic? 

Because it’s stopping me from getting up early and having a delicious morning routine. I’m waking up groggy or unmotivated. 

So how do I solve it? A few months ago I had a plug timer that would turn my wifi off at 9:30 pm. We unplugged it when someone came to fix our wifi so now I have to get that bad boy plugged in again.

The first 2 years of being a twin mom were really The first 2 years of being a twin mom were really hard for me. I didn't thrive. I've only started finding my groove this year. I've only started feeling into the woman I am becoming. I was so lost for what seemed like so long. In the grand scheme of things, 2 years is so short but it felt like an eternity. 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really needed to lean hard on this man for support and for comfort. Meanwhile, he's in the thick of it as well discovering who he is as a husband and a father.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So at the start of 2023, I declared we were going to go on a weekly date night. And every time I mentioned it to friends or our neighbours with kids they'd look at us a bit shocked and say "Oh wow good for you" and then I started seeing a babysitter come over next door once a week. I cheered silently to know they were putting themselves first and ensuring they were getting some quality time together. 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While we love to get locked up in an escape room (we're kinda regulars at @escapemanor) and problem-solve our way out, I'm also quite content going out for oysters, dinner and drinks. Here's to almost a full year of date nights and prioritizing us!
