Top 10 Must-Haves for Newborns

Our fraternal boy/girl twins are almost 4 months old! It’s crazy how time has flown (which everyone will tell you will happen). The twins were born in July so we’ve got a couple of months under our belts now. We thought we would put together a list of newborn must-haves to share with other new parents.

I wanted to put together a blog post of our top 10 must-have items that we couldn’t live without after going through the crazy first 90 days. Without further ado, and in no particular order…

Top 10 Items for Newborn Babies

1. Swaddle Sleep Sacks

We were gifted quite a few swaddle blankets but our twins were Houdini’s and were easily able to get their arms out. We then went on to purchase several brands of sleep sacks. Unfortunately, we never did find ones that were Houdini proof. However, the Halo Swaddle Sleep Sacks made a huge difference in helping the twins sleep better at night. I found the fleece ones were almost the best for keeping their arms by their sides.

2. Head Pillow

I had seen these Babymoov pillow’s on another mom’s IG stories and wasn’t sure if we’d need them for our twins. Our little girl, Alora started to show a bit of a flat head so I picked these up before it gets any worse.

3. Hooded Towels

Our little babes get so cold after baths. Their little noggins get so cold after a bath, so we have hooded towels to wrap them up in after their evening baths. I would have bought 4 towels instead of just 2 as they can easily get peed on. We have the Burt’s Bees organic ones.

4. Tamer, Calmer, and Stronger Roller Bottles

These three essential oil roller bottles from the dōTERRA Kid’s Collection have been lifesavers. We apply Tamer to their tummies after their bath and Calmer and Stronger to the bottom’s of their feet.

5. Diaper Cream

You will be changing a ton of diapers just in case you didn’t know and this is a great diaper cream with no toxins. It contains no parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, artificial colours, petrolatum, mineral oil or talc

If you don’t have a shopping account with dōTERRA yet here are links to enroll with your own annual membership fee($42 CDN / $35 USD), the Kid’s Collection and Diaper Cream.

6. Liquid Vitamin D

This is one of the most important vitamins that our body needs to support our immune system. If you can’t get the babes out in direct sunlight right away this is a great vitamin to supplement from the start. Our babes love this brand and you can see them tasting it and smiling after we give it to them.

7. Comotomo & Boon 4 oz Bottles

We were gifted the Comotomo Baby Bottle Bundle which includes 2 5 oz bottles and 2 8 oz bottles. We brought the 2 5 oz bottles with us to the hospital in case we needed them, and we did. On the way home from the hospital we ended up ordering the Boon bottles since our little boy loved the bottle more than the boob.

8. Nail File

So babies come out of the womb with razor-sharp weapons on their fingers! The nurses in the hospital told us to bite the kid’s nails off but that scared me. Our doula recommended this tool and we love it. The babes actually love it and don’t put up too much of a fight

10. Baby Brezza:

My husband and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to exclusively breastfeed or not. Due to birth trauma, my body wasn’t able to supply enough milk for both twins. When we realized we had a lot of bottles in our future we grabbed the Baby Brezz Pro. Basically it’s a Nespresso for baby bottles.
