Mallorca – Part II

The Mallorca Recap continues. Today features the yoga retreat created by Moksana Yoga Studio (located in Victoria, BC). I was lucky to become a part of the family for a week and practice and adventure with everyone. When Kyla asked me if I wanted to come with her I jumped at the chance to spend time in Mallorca. After all, Spain had been on my vision board since 2009.

After adventuring in Palma, and across the island on our first few days, it was nice to have a home base for the rest of the week. We were located at the Tramuntana Flow Center in a suburb of Palma called Sa Cabeneta. Kyla and I shared a room on the first floor, right off the main area and right inside the front door. It was a bit loud at times if everyone was gathered in the main area but thankfully I was so exhausted each night I usually passed out easily.

The yoga studio was a few levels down from the main yard in a beautiful building that had open windows facing the Mallorcan countryside. Our view walking to morning yoga and evening yoga was simply delicious.

I absolutely loved our practicing schedule! It was a perfect balance of flow, alignment work and rest. We would get up around 6 am and do a 7 am morning practice, followed by breakfast, a morning outing, lunch and time by the pool, a 2-hour workshop around 5 pm, dinner at 7 pm and then a yin practice to wind down at night at 9 pm. It was a perfect day of variety, yoga and adventure.

Here is a list of adventures Ida, the studio owner had planned for us during the week.

Day 1: Portals Vells

We explored the man-carved caves that are known to have built the Cathedral in Palma and from there we walked in and out of the different coves, making a stop on the nudist beach to pee in the ocean and continue along our way. This was a standard move by Robyn on the trip. Can’t find a washroom, just find the ocean 🙂

Day 2: Village of Valdemossa

This was a cute, picturesque mountain town. Kyla and I enjoyed a cup of iced coffee and granola on a patio and then wandered the streets taking the perfect pictures to share on Insta of course!

Day 3: Hike Up Randa Hill

After a quick hike up Randa Hill which took us around 45 mins we walked around the Monastery that is up there, grabbed a huge glass of Sangria from the restaurant and took the bus home 🙂

Day 4: Banyalbufar & Port Andratx

The group went off to the market in Inca but Kyla put up with my need to see more of the island. With Google Maps in hand, I chose Banyalbufar & Port Andratx. Driving the Ma-10 was a bit like being in a James Bond movie but thankfully Kyla is a rockstar at driving standard and kept us safe and sound on winding roads with bikes everywhere. Apparently, Mallorca is a mecca for bikers of all Nationalities.

Day 5: Winery Tour – Biniagual

We had an amazing time touring a winery in Binissalem. We tried their rosé, red blend and montenegro wines. I loved the rose so much that I grabbed a bottle for my parents!

Day 6: Delta

Last Day in Palma: We had accidentally booked a hostal in a new part of town so we took a cab back into the main part of town for dinner. We hadn’t tried Paella yet so that was a must on the menu. And then one final pic perfectly capturing how much fun we had and it was off to the airport the next day for a long road home to my family.

This place is a must for your travel bucket list. It was so amazing to combine such amazing views, with calm, great food, amazing wine and such a peaceful atmosphere on the island.
