Essential Oils for Masculine Energy

On the Alpha Female Podcast in May & June 2019, I did a series of interviews on Masculine & Feminine Energy. In last week’s episode with Betsy Milne, I asked her about specific habits she does to be in her masculine and feminine energy and she brought up using essential oils. So I thought I’d expand upon our conversation with two blog posts about oils we can use to support masculine or feminine energy.

This post will focus on essential oils for masculine energy…

You can read about essential oils for feminine energy here.

So there isn’t one definition of masculine energy. You can’t look it up in the dictionary. It’s one of the reason’s why I wanted to have different guests on the podcast to share different perspectives around the topic.

Here is an example of how you can describe masculine energy:

Masculine energy is directive energy. It has a goal, it’s focused, and it’s about achievement or doing something. Femininity, on the other hand, is about receptive energy. It’s about receiving, it’s about being open.

I always tend to explain masculine energy as “do” energy. You’re in your masculine energy when you’re focused on getting a task or goal completed.

I also found a list of qualities of Masculine Energy according to the Chopra Center:

  • Leadership
  • Action
  • Reason
  • Logic
  • Adventure
  • Strength
  • Loyalty
  • Firmness
  • Survival
  • Confidence
  • Focus
  • Pride
  • Honor
  • Efficiency
  • Power
  • Caretaker

When I looked at the list of masculine energy qualities it made me think about some of the conversations I’d had on the podcast around Ayurveda. Sachi Doctor shared with us that in Ayurveda, “like increases like.” So if I apply this principle to supporting or bringing out masculine energy here are the oils that support the above qualities.

Essential Oils To Support Masculine Energy

The way that I personally use essential oils through intention setting. I love reading more about how the oils support our emotions and then I reach for the bottle that helps me set an intention for feeling a certain way. So let’s dive into 7 essential oils that you can use to support your masculine energy.

Bergamot – Oil of Self-Acceptance

“It offers courage to share the inner self. Reigniting optimism and confidence in the self, it imparts true self-acceptance. Bergamot teaches individuals to let go of judgment by learning to love themselves unconditionally.”

When you learn to accept yourself completely you develop a new confidence you didn’t have before.

Birch – Oil of Support

“It helps individuals… find their source of inner support and strength. It helps us move from negative emotions to positive ones of feeling supported, firm, resolute, strengthened and grounded.”

I loved hearing an analogy that masculine energy is like the river bed and feminine energy is like the river. For someone to honour their feminine energy they need to feel supported and safe. While you’re not able to purchase Birch throughout the year I do have a bottle that came in the 2017 Convention Kit that I can use.

Cassia – Oil of Self-Assurance

“Cassia can restore their confidence. It invites them to let their light shine and live from their True Self. It contains the positive properties of moving you to be courageous, self-assured, unashamed, confident, valued and authentic.”

Divine masculine energy is all about quiet confidence. It doesn’t boast or brag or try to hard and I think self-assurance is such a perfect way to explain the feeling we’re looking for when we are in our divine masculine energy.

Clove – Oil of Boundaries

If I go back to the analogy of the river bed and river. I think that to harmonize between masculine and feminine energy the ability to create boundaries is important so that the support can exist. “Clove insists that individuals live true to themselves and the Divine by establishing clear boundaries”.

What boundaries do you need to set when you’re focused on a task or goal?

Ginger – Oil of Empowerment

In the episode with Betsy Milne we talked about how living in wounded Feminine Energy involves living in a victim mentality. “Ginger addresses deep patterns of victim mentality, which is evidenced by feelings of powerlessness, believing everything is outside of one’s control, refusing to take responsibility for life or blaming life circumstances on other people or outside influences.”

Lemon – Oil of Focus

When we need to be in our masculine energy and be tasked focused, lemon essential oil is perfect for engaging the mind and aiding in concentration. “It teaches individuals to be mentally present by focusing on one thing at a time.”

There is nothing more energizing than popping lemon essential oil in the kitchen diffuser first thing in the morning.

Sandalwood – Oil of Sacred Devotion

You’ll also hear in the episode with Betsy Milne, that I get my mind blown finding out that things like meditation are actually in the divine masculine vs. feminine. I always thought that feminine energy was around being vs. doing and meditation for me is about being still. So I thought that by being still in meditation I was honouring my feminine energy. To my surprise, I discovered that that’s simply me being in my divine masculine. Which is perfectly acceptable. So if you have a seated meditation practice may I suggest Sandalwood? It’s used “to calm the mind, still the heart, and prepare the spirit to commune with God.”
