Definition of an Alpha Female

An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.

She is the brightest star in her constellation.  When an Alpha Female stays true to their authentic selves and their missions they shine.  An Alpha Female puts herself first because she deserves self-care and love. She knows that work/life harmony is found by staying true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with all the people in her life.

Welcome To The Show Julia Nichol!

Julia Nichol is the founder and owner of Intuition Parenting Support Services. She supports families in so many ways: as a Gentle Sleep Consultant, a Birth, Postpartum & Sibling Doula, a Birth Story Listener, and a Reiki Practitioner. Can you envision life with some or all these offerings? Julia daydreams of a norm where new families are not only celebrated with gifts, but also with much-needed services that nurture the body, mind, and soul.

Julia lives in Russell, Ontario with her husband and two children aged 4 and 7 who are her constant inspiration for her work. She loves to be outdoors as much as she can, forest bathe, dive into a book, and get creative cooking up delicious and nourishing meals.

Julia supports families in Ottawa and surrounding areas as well as virtually, with the following services:

Sleep: Julia helps ease your worries about your child’s sleep, supports you to incorporate gentle methods that align with your values, and to work towards finding balance in the whole family to better cope with these early years.

Doula: Julia gently cushions the landing into family hood; offering companionship, comfort measures, and reassurance during labour and birth as well as to help you and your family find your footing afterward. She focuses on her ‘not-so-typical registry list’ of items including nutrition, rest, being heard, self-care, baths, massage, and finding your village.

Birth Story: Trained by Birth Story Medicine®, Julia holds the space for you to find healing if you carry difficult feelings and emotions about moments in your pregnancy, labour, or postpartum period. You come away with a shift in how you feel about your birth with new insight, perspective, and healing from within. This healing can bring love, strength, and compassion into every aspect of your life.

Reiki: Julia adds a mentally and physically balancing session of energetic therapy to any of the above practices or on its own, beneficial to infant, child, expectant and new parents. It is quite powerful when applied at the end of a Birth Story Listening session to help shed the hard emotions and move forward embracing a new outlook.

Salves: Finally, Julia has created a line of Parenting Support Salves made with carefully selected organic ingredients and Doterra Essential Oils. Add “Sleepy Rub”, “Sicky Salve“, “Bum Balm“, and “Mother’s Healing Salve” to your routine for everything to go a bit smoother!

What is your favourite quote?

“If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are, here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong.” — Masaru Emoto

What is your definition of happiness?

First noticing and then breathing in those rare moments where time actually feels like it is slowing down in front of my eyes and I witness my kids as if on old projector film. Joy wells up inside me, I feel ever-present, and find myself so extremely thankful for that fleeting moment. That is happiness to me.

Highlights From The Show

We start the episode by Julia taking me through a Birth Story Medicine session of my own experience. Here is the written Birth Story that we refer to in the episode.

From there we do an interview chatting about what Birth Story Listening is and how it can impact mother’s healing after a traumatic birth.
