DIY Dry Shampoo

I’ve been using doTERRA essential oils for 2 years now as part of my healthy toolkit.

I’ve been working to slowly reduce the toxins in my home, especially what I use on my body. I started purchasing natural products from a store here in Ottawa called terra 20 back in 2013.

I’ve only been using essential oils in a diffuser & a few drops in my nightly Epsom salt bath but I’ve been wanting to start making more at-home beauty products to reduce cost & have fun being crafty. My first project was to make a DIY Dry Shampoo.

I bought a 50ml Glass Jar from My Essential Business in Toronto. I added arrowroot powder from my pantry and 2 drops of Geranium & Cedarwood essential oil. Many blogs say to mix the powder in a food blender with the oil but I just shook it like crazy to mix it.

Here is why I chose these 2 oils:

Geranium: At the doTERRA Canadian launch we were provided with new Canada Health claims that have been approved by Health Canada. For Geranium one of the claims calls for adding a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner for a healthy, vibrant glow.

Cedarwood: I saw on Dr. Axe’s website that it promotes hair growth and who doesn’t want that? I also love the smell and thought it would be a great addition.

How to Apply: You can use a clean makeup brush to apply to the roots of your hair or I just place on my fingers and run it through my hair.
