What I Thought:
After several birth complications in a traumatic birth story, I knew I would need several resources to help me heal. From sharing my story with my postpartum doula to finding a therapist in town to reading two books. This book was lent to me by my postpartum doula and the other was mailed to me by a friend. You can find that book review here.
I really like how the book broke down healing into different parts by chapter. That healing isn’t linear and sometimes is compartmentalized.
From facing rage to the mess of mothering, to how our birth story impacts our partner and our relationship to trauma at the hands of our providers. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book to any mother healing their birth story. At the end of each chapter there is an exercise for you to consider and a paragraph for our partners should they choose to read this book.
