Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.
Definition of an Alpha Female
An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.
She is the brightest star in her constellation. When an Alpha Female stays true to their authentic selves and their missions they shine. An Alpha Female puts herself first so that she can fill up her cup and then have more energy for her friends, family, and coworkers. She strives for synergy with the world around her. She knows that work/life harmony is found by staying true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with all the people in her life.

What do you think of the definition and how are you an Alpha Female?
I think the definition just gave me peace of mind knowing that I’m not the only out there like this. As Women, we understand that if we don’t take care of US first, we won’t be able for THEM. It’s about taking a stand & designing our life. It’s an exciting time. We have so many tools to do this and Women are REALLY getting it.
For me, it started with spitting fear in the face and realizing there is so much more to this world then what I currently made it. Just leap, just try! I started to surround myself with the goal-getters, the ones who understood, those who wanted the change towards happiness. Really, an empty repetitive life sucks. In the end, love and happiness is all that matters…when you truly have it to give, you get it in return. But it starts with taking care of YOU, for THEM.
What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about change and toxic-free living. I have taught self-developmental programs on fear, change and the compound effect. I always find it interesting that fear of failure or the unknown will stop many people in perusing what the gut says to do. I coach many on the compound effect – start small and don’t stop, several opportunities will grow from that one move. I’m a living example of just that – from the couch to an elite triathlete. I’m also extremely passionate about living toxic-free. I’m always learning more ways to better my
families’ environment. From the water we drink, to the foods and nutrition we consume to the couch we sit in. This covers most of the health spectrum for better living.
What does work/life harmony look like for you?
I have found a business model that allows me to control my hours and free myself from the economy. My life is very full with a shift-working husband and four kids going in several directions, all while being a dedicated triathlete. I love how I can design my days – that’s the harmonious part. I’m available for my family when they need me all while working on myself and helping others.
Share with us a time when work/life balance was out of wack? What was your aha moment that taught you it was ok to take care of yourself first?
Three years ago I didn’t want to go back to my J-O-B when I had my last child. The time with him gave me the AHA moment that there has to be a better way. I had these kids for a reason and not for others to raise them. Even though I had an amazing career in the food & service industry to Pharmaceutical Sales, I just couldn’t give my time to others before myself and my family. A friend reached out and saw my frustration and introduced me to the world of NWM. I was floored that taking care of myself could give me a paycheque. Eat. Share. Repeat. It was that simple. Now I get shivers every time I see those I’ve helped, changing the lives of those they helped. It’s the health gift that doesn’t stop giving.
How do you nourish yourself?
I fuel my body with natural nutrition – Ageless Essentials with Product B – Ionix tea – one day/week cellular cleansing – hot turmeric and black pepper water alternating with lemon water throughout the day, Plus an e-shot for an extra kick of energy when needed.
What is your weekly fitness routine like?
Hardcore before race season. It changes weekly with more intensity. Daily, I alternate between swimming, cycling and running – two activities per day. For instance, Monday – I run 30-45 minutes before the kids wake up, then at night I swim between 1950-2400M, while they are sleeping. I keep to a tight schedule.
What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?
My habits for winding down include setting aside 7.5 hours of sleep – 30 minute of that being my ahhhhh time consisting of reading a book or listening to a loaded podcast. I eliminate artificial light, implement my Bedtime Belly Buster, and write down my schedule for the next day or what I was grateful for during the day.
What are some pain points of being an Alpha Female that you have to problem solve for?
I think some pain points are my energy. I feel like I can scare some timid people off. My underlying energy effect is happiness and excitement. I love people. I love their joys and pains. Life is so interesting to me. Many times I feel like I can burst out of my skin with happiness and excitement. I’m learning not to be so intense depending on the situation.
What is your definition of happiness?
Happiness is loving yourself – your strengths and your flaws and not letting anyone take your shine away. Happiness attracts happiness too. As humans, the hardest part of life is to love every inch of yourself…we struggle with it daily. We need to remember why we are on this Earth. We are all unique. We are all a gift. Happiness happens when we remind ourselves daily. I always wake up and realize what a blessing it is to wake up again. I remind myself of 3 things I love about me immediately when I wake and move forward in the day on that note. It seems to work.
