Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.
Definition of an Alpha Female
An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.
Type A Alpha Females often come across as strong willed and selfish. When we stay true to our authentic selves and stay true to our mission we shine. A true Alpha Female puts the needs of herself first without sacrificing her principles or dignity. She fills up her cup or gas tank first so that she has enough energy for her friends, family, and coworkers. A true Alpha Female strives for synergy with the world around her. She wants a perfect work/life balance but knows that it requires being true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with the people in her life.

How are you an Alpha Female?
I am an Alpha female because my everyday life is living out that multilayered dynamic of a wife, mother, believer, and a businesswoman that works from my home…. among all the other multiple roles that we as women carry. I’m also passionate about women genuinely so I host women’s event periodically so that local creatives can come together without agenda and feel less isolated as we do life together.
Does work/life balance exist?
There is a balance, but it’s more of a balance of priority than equality. There is never going to be an equal perfect balance when it comes to life and the things that fill it. I have to constantly weigh each situation I’m deciding to put my time and energy to and honestly ask myself where do I want to pour it and where does it need to be poured the most? I always ask myself: What would I look back on in 20 years and wished I had made the priority?
You can have a family and business, you can have a healthy lifestyle while living a go-getter ambitious life, but because each element of our life fuels the others they all have to be fed in their own way and with their own worth being honored. So, essentially balance exist but you have to decide what that looks like for you and know that perfectly scaled balance is more theory more than an actual sustainable reality. Striving for balance frustrates women, striving to be unapologetic about keeping the priorities first and full within our life allows women to have less guilt and regret. Especially when they give themselves permission for it look different for them than another woman.
What are you most passionate about?
I am honestly most passionate about my relationship with God, being a wife, and raising my daughter. Those things are my energy sources not just something I feel like I should say. But, creatively I am most passionate about teaching females visionaries how to take the passion within them and make it a sustainable and impactful reality. I purposely intertwine strategy, spirituality and psychology when doing it because I’m also extremely passionate about the worth of those together when learning how to create something from nothing.
What are your daily health habits that keep your immune system boosted?
I start my day off with what fills me up wellness wise. If I don’t do this my energy and focus is off for the rest of the day and I feel scattered. I purposely get up before my daughter and get 10 minutes of exercise in. . After that I go straight into some worship and quiet time with God. If I don’t do anything else in the morning, it’s this. That time centers my energy and mindset for the day ahead. Lastly I have a notebook of affirmations that I say out loud so that I speak them into my life and keep them into the forefront of my perspective before I even get going on the day. Once I took command of my morning I started feeling more empowered and peaceful throughout the day, I didn’t feel like I was behind the ball and going to bed at night like, where in the world did my day go?
What is your weekly fitness routine like?
My weekly fitness routine focuses on smaller bursts of activity simply because of my lifestyle. I start off with a 10 minute burst of usually kettle bell squats, pushups and ab work. I know that’s the one thing that will probably get pushed to the back burning throughout the day so I get it done first. Setting my phone for 10 minutes gives me a block of space that I just commit to filling, and it gets a lot more done than you think.
How do you challenge yourself fitness wise?
The challenge for me at this stage is to stay consistent. I think I need to challenge myself to find something that gets me excited. I haven’t really found something where it’s like omg, I HAVE to go to this. I think that would help with my consistency and fitness progression too.
What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?
Spending time with my husband and daughter is how I unwind, being with them calms me down. Even if we’re watching a movie, or I’m reading or we’re just all hanging together, that is when I feel like I take slower breaths and relax. I also love my alone time so somedays I unwind by writing, some days I unwind my just going somewhere and purposely walking around slowly and uncrushed, sometimes it’s just watching an episode of Scandal. Whatever my energy is calling for, I honor it.
What are you daily/weekly nutrition habits that keep you well nourished?
My overall nutrition habits are something I had to create for myself. It doesn’t really fit a specific genre of diet, but it works for me. I do vegan when I’m at home and throughout the week. If it’s a special occasion or we go out to eat, I allow myself to eat what I want, obviously without going crazy. This has worked for me because my good meals outweigh my bad and I know that I have the choice to have a cheat meal when I want so I don’t feel boxed in or deprived. That style of eating though does give me more energy.
What are pain points that Alpha Females are constantly problem-solving for?
I have to problem solve how I choose to spend my time and how I choose to space out my time. I literally have to method or sequence out for the things I do throughout the day because being a mother while having my own business from home doesn’t always allow for clear boundaries. So, my routine becomes my own boundaries. I’m not bound to it but the guide of it helps me be present in whatever I’m doing.
What is your definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is finding peace within simplicity and in spite of anything that tries to come against it. I think the ability to stay unbothered by everyday stress and foolishness by keeping it all in perspective leads to a level of unshakable happiness. It has to be a mindset instead of a circumstance for me. Circumstances change. My happiness can’t be solely dependent on that.
