Alpha Female Friday – Anna Lozano

Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.

Definition of an Alpha Female

An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.

She is the brightest star in her constellation.  When an Alpha Female stays true to their authentic selves and their missions they shine.  An Alpha Female puts herself first. She knows that work/life harmony is found by staying true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with all the people in her life.

Meet Anna Lozano!

Anna Lozano is a mom and serial entrepreneur! After graduating from the Richard Ivey School of Business and embarking on my career in Marketing/Sales she quickly realized she was overworked, underpaid and unfulfilled so she started looking for a solution. In 2010 she said yes to network marketing as a part-time project that turned into a million dollar empire. In 2016, she became a mom and her life took on a whole new meaning! She realized she could create something that would power the next generation, our children, and with her friend & business partner launched Love Powered Co. in August 2017 with an Affirmation Card set for kid’s on Kickstarter, reaching 214% of their Campaign Goal in 30 days! She’s obsessed with living in alignment with her core values, spending time with my family and exploring the world!

What do you think of the definition and how are you an Alpha Female?

I’m obsessed with the definition of an Alpha Female and the definition describes me well! I’m a lady who knows what she wants and goes after it. I live in alignment with my core values which are family, freedom, integrity, growth amongst some. I believe in collaboration, female empowerment, mindfulness and leadership and as The Dalai Lama said, “the world will be saved by the Western woman.”

What does work/life harmony look like for you?

This is something that is really important to me and I strive to have this “balance.” Sometimes things are out of alignment, but I very quickly become aware of it and makeshifts. For me, mornings are my time to fuel my professional side while my daughter is at Montessori. From 3 pm I switch my Valentino’s to Berkinstocks and go on mommy duty until bedtime! Once a week my husband and I do date night.

Share with us a time when work/life balance was out of whack? What was your aha moment that taught you it was ok to take care of yourself first?

Start-up mode always throws things out of alignment. we just launched our newest company with Kickstarter in August and there were days where I couldn’t stop working. My husband is my accountability buddy so he will give me gentle reminders that its time to be present mama… and I immediately feel it in my body when I’m out of alignment! So I will close everything down and go for a walk, or a yoga class, or just spend time playing with my toddler!

What are you most passionate about?

I’m most passionate about the practice of mindfulness, female leadership/empowerment/entrepreneurship, and exploring the world! But of course, my biggest passion is my family!

How do you nourish yourself?

I used to have the best self-care rituals until the realities of parenthood kicked in! It’s not an excuse but there is definitely less time to do everything I want to do! But my non-negotiables include:

  • daily green juice
  • daily movement (walks, yoga, running around the playground)
  • water bottle in hand
  • nightly gratitudes

What is your weekly fitness routine like?

I used to be obsessed with working out! Today, I practice more gentle movement such as walking & yoga

What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?

When my little lady goes down that starts me (or me and hubby) time. My non-negotiables before bed include a warm tea, essential oils, gratitude journal and a few pages of a good book!

What are some pain points of being an Alpha Female that you have to problem solve for?

For the longest time I was operating in my masculine energy, which is fierce and firey, great qualities for building an empire but also intimidating. Since becoming a mom, I’ve tapped into more feminine energy. I’ve softened and I feel so much more FLOW!

I also do a number of things, I do a lot so I’m really great at managing my time. I’ve learned how to outsource what I’m not good at and really focus on my strengths.

What is your definition of happiness?

My definition of happiness is being in a state of peace. Accepting what is, without judgment. That feeling of flow, alignment, and trust. I strive to feel this way more often than not.
