50 Book Challenge: #16 The Power Of Now

What Kobo.com says:

To make the journey into the Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of Eckhart Tolle’s extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, “The eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.” Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us. A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, The Power of Now is one of those rare books with the power to create an experience in readers, one that can radically change their lives for the better.

What I Say: The Power of Now is the kind of book you can’t read all at once. They even instruct you to stop at the pauses imagery in the text and reflect upon what you’ve just read. It takes a bit of time to mentally digest the book but it’s well worth it. I definitely feel like I’ll re-read the book a few more times and really really enjoyed it. I recommend it to the over thinkers, the over analyzers, the worriers, the anxious and those wanting & hoping to live a happier and more fruitful life. I’ve been on a healing journey over the past year and even within the course of one week of reading this book I feel more present, happier and a bit more enlightened.

My two favourite quotes from the book:

The most common ego identifications have to do with possessions, the work you do, social status and recognition, knowledge and education, physical appearance, relationships, personal and family history, belief systems, and often also political, nationalistic, racial, religious, and other collective idendifications. None of these is you.

Death is stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to “die before you die” and find that there is no death
