It’s the start of a new year and for me that means it’s time to announce all my 2016 goals!
How do you want to feel in 2016 when you set out your goals for the year?
For me it was so important to lay those down first before setting actual goals for next year. My Core Desired Feelings as discovered last year still ring true in my heart and continue to guide me as I sat down to dream up my 2016 goals.
This year I adapted my goal setting to incorporate better smart goals vs just throwing a goal into the universe that suits my core desired feelings even though it worked really well for me last year. So for 2016 I’m using Desire Map & SMART goal setting to dream up an amazing year and step up my goal setting ways just another notch. I also decided to add more feels into the process and name how I want to feel when each goal happens. And last but not least I created quote or affirmation images that I can pin to my 2016 virtual vision board on Pinterest and save to my phone for inspiration.
Drum Roll Please… In no particular order here are my 2016 goals…
Career / Money
Goal: Create income as a side hustler.
Get excited! I’m launching a podcast on January 8th. With the launch of the podcast I’ll be offering a Free 5 day video challenge on How To Live Like An Alpha Female. I’m taking my free eBook “Live Like An Alpha Female” that I give away on my website for free when you sign up for my email list and putting it into video format. In addition to that, I’ll be accepting 10 – 12 women into a Free Beta Online Course that I’ll be creating with their input. The topic is going to focus on getting organized, reducing stress, being proactive with your health & nutrition and focusing on one big goal for the first 90 days of the year. Stay tuned for the launch!
- I want to help 100 women live like an Alpha Female, reduce their stress & attack a goal they never thought possible.
I’m also in talks with a great friend and personal trainer about launching a business together and launching a podcast on mindset, offering a Free Mindset Challenge and then launching a fitness membership site. Thinking of March timing for this one so I have the first 2 months of the year to focus on monetizing my personal brand first.
- I want to help 100 people develop resiliency through mindset before they attack a fitness goal so they will be successful in sticking with it.

Travel
Goal: Take 3 Trips.
I’m heading off to Florida to run the Disney Half Marathon on January 9th so that will be my first trip of the year. The second will be to Vancouver in August to run my second SeaWheeze Half Marathon. I’m hoping to spend time before or after with my best friend Kyla in Victoria and head up to Tofino to do some Canada surfing!
On my heart this year is to travel to Patagonia in the fall for an epic adventure. I cannot wait as my travel in the past year has been fairly safe. I can’t wait to push my comfort zones again!

Financial Goals
Goal: Stay credit card debt free and invest in a consistent retirement plan all year. Although I contribute to an RRSP & TFSA this falls by the way side when I need to stay credit card debt free so the goal for this year is to ensure I’m not spending outside my means and consistently contributing every month. Spreadsheet planning time!

Leisure – Bucket Lists
Goal: Complete Winter & Summer Bucket Lists. I’ve only been able to cross off make mulled wine off the 2015/2016 winter bucket list so since we haven’t had snow until this week. I’m excited to ramp up planning my weekend winter adventures. I’ll start making my summer bucket list around April/May and continue to live the heck out of my summers. I love that this keeps my hobbies & leisure life full and fun!
Here are past posts about my bucket list creations so you can see how they’ve evolved or get ideas for yours!

Home
Goal: Redecorate den for writing & yoga space
This was on my 2015 goal’s list and I took my sweet time getting it done so I’m reinvigorated to get this done in the first 60 days of the year. By the end of January 2016 I will have reduced all the clutter that has accumulated there and I will have bought a new desk for writing and by the end of February I will have everything all set up so I can schedule consistent writing appointments and yoga time with myself in the space.

Health
Goal: Live my best life with MS
If you’re new to my blog I was diagnosed in December 2014 and have led an amazing year in 2015 taking utmost holistic care for myself so that my body doesn’t get confused and attack itself 🙂
My 90 day goal is to truly fix my digestion problems. WARNING TOO MUCH INFORMATION (TMI) COMING UP… Skip this section if you don’t like talking about poo 🙂 I suffer from IBS (irritible bowel syndrome) which means certain foods cause diarrhea or loose bowel movements. I’ve done a lot of research on leaky gut potentially contributing to my auto-immune sidekick so I’ve been working on my digestion system all year and you’d laugh if you saw me celebrating every time I have a solid bowel movement. I’ve been testing out an auto-immune paleo elimination diet but haven’t really been solidly off certain foods for 30 days so I need to start fresh in January. After a month I’ll reintroduce foods one at a time and track symptoms using the app Symple. Digestion, you and I are going to figure you out finally! After fixing my digestion issues I will stay consistent on the auto-immune paleo meal planning system and my goal mid year is to have no new lesions on my MRIs.
Last year I helped organize an obstacle course fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada. After purchasing a road bike in the fall I’d like to participate in the September MS Bike Ride in Toronto. Stay tuned for more information later in the year.

Fitness
Goal: Be consistent in my workouts on a weekly basis.
To accomplish this I will attend Alpha Obstacle Training (my obstacle course training facility) which was recently renamed to Myodetox Performance 2-3x a week, do my own weight workouts 3x a week, run 2-3x a week based on how close I am to races, attend yoga once a week and go rock climbing or bouldering once a week.

Race Goals
Goal: Complete 12 races and qualify for the OCR World Championships again this year.

Blog Goals
Goal: Write consistent (3x a week) blog posts that bring value to my readers and not just me. Write consistent, valuable weekly eNewsletter content. I’d like to grow my email list and have 3,000 qualified people on my list by the end of the year. Growing an email list is hard so I need to push myself to do consistent daily actions to grow mine and that will pull me out of my current comfort zone.

Writing Goals
Goal: I will publish my self-development book Love Lost, Life Found on August 25, 2016 and I want to continue as a freelance writer for iRun.ca.
Here are the first 2 articles that have been published

Reading & Education Goals
Goal: I love reading. When people ask me what I do in my spare time I always answer read. Reading is how I educate myself as an adult. In the past 6 months I’ve also added podcasts to my repertoire of information products I consume as I’m driving more to and from work. So my goal for 2016 is to read 2 books a month on my Kobo, listen to 1 audio book a month during my drive home from work and listen to podcasts on my drive to work.
In addition to my top 5 business podcasts & my top 5 personal development podcasts I’ve listened to all of Lena Dunham’s Women of the Hour shows and just added the following to my to listen to list
Conversation with Alanis Morisette
The Lively Show by Jess Lively
The Social Authority Podcast with Amy Schmittauer
Eventual Millionaire by Jaime Tardy
The Rich Roll Podcast by Rich Roll
The Ask Gary Vee Show with Gary Vaynerchuk
I clearly didn’t do well at limiting my consumption of new shows! But at least I’ll limit my listen time to the mornings only.

Spiritual Goals
Goal: Continue to read a daily devotional every night before I go to bed. My mom bought me The Confident Woman last year and in the fall I started reading it right before bed. For Christmas this year I got another devotional so now I have 2 to choose from and can do one or both but keeping it as a nightly habit suited me well in 2015. This allows me time to read, sit with the scripture and also pray before turning on my meditation app and going to sleep.

Relationship Goals
Goal: I would like to be in a loving relationship that believes in unconditional love with a shared goal of marriage and family planning. Boom I said it. The difficult balance in setting this kind of goal is nurturing relationships without expectations but still having hope. With expectation we can feel entitled to have something happen and with hope it is a gift and a bonus if and when it manifests in my life.

Robyn, i applaud your enthousiasm and focus. I too suffer from MS and have been diagnosed In 1997. Setting goals and putting up a fight is essential. Staying active and healthy is also vital even when things get a little more challenging. I wish you the best in achieving your 2016 goals and am curious to see if you succeed against your “digestion” problems. It is a very common issue with this disease and probably has a lot to do with nerve damage and spasticity but let’s see if diet can make this better.
Cheers!
MC
Digestion issues actually usually stem from the microbiome being off balance for many different reasons. Mine was antibiotic use as a child. Which led my body to be in the perfect state of getting confused 🙂
I will also be at the wdw marathon weekend 2016! Good luck with your half marathon!
YES YES YES!! I love all of these!!
Especially your focus n your health and MS! It can be hard sticking to a serious consistent diet and training plan. So I think you are doing an AMAZING job!
