Another weekend, another magical experience crossing skating off the Winter Bucket List with an added bonus of it being through a forest trail in Lac-des-Loups!
This week, we posted on our Trekking Tribe FaceBook group a poll to see who wanted to go skating through the Lac-des-Loups Forest Trail. With a resounding yes for Sunday we headed out north of Gatineau Park with 2 cars full of outdoor keeners.
We met up, laced up our skates and headed out on the 3km loop a few times. The weather was perfect with the light snowfall. Despite tough road conditions making the drive an hour and a half outside of Ottawa it was well worth it. The trail was so pretty! The owner strategically placed bird houses around the course for squirrel & bird watching.
The ice was in perfect condition. They have a warm cabin to tie your skates, an outdoor fire by the entrance to enjoy, a mascot to high five & 3km or pure joy. It’s a perfect outing for friends, family, couples and even a solo trip around the forest would be well worth the trip!
Happy Skating!
